Here are some great ways you can use toothpaste in an unconventional way.

Clean your bathroom sink –
Next time you drop a bit of toothpaste down the sink accidentally…don’t wipe it away! Grab yourself a sponge and rub the toothpaste around the sink. This natural abrasive acts like a gentle bathroom cleaner and can help deodorise the drain too.

Make silver jewellery sparkle again –
Why not use toothpaste to shine up your jewellery? Use a very small amount toothpaste on an old toothbrush to gently buff clean your silver jewellery. Be sure to rinse thoroughly afterwards and then delicately wipe clean with a cloth.

Remove permanent marker –
Toothpaste is an amazing stain remover. So, if you have a little one who happens to get their pen on something that it shouldn’t be on just pop a bit of toothpaste on a cloth or sponge and give it a clean!

Remove scuffs from shoes –
De-scuffing leather shoes? Again, another toothpaste is good at. Just squeeze a small bit on the scuffed area and rub with a soft cloth. The all you need to do is wipe clean with a damp cloth – done!

Block out unwanted smells –
If you’re handling a particularly smelly situation such as cleaning a nappy or putting out some bad smelling rubbish pop a tiny dot of toothpaste into each nostril. Strange but effective!

Soothe a minor burn –
Just caught yourself on the straighteners or the corner of a hot pan? Pop some toothpaste on to the area to create a temporary cooling effect.

Stop your hands smelling –
If you’ve been cooking or cutting up particularly smelly food like onion or garlic, try scrubbing your hands with some toothpaste. This will help to remove any lingering food smells with its minty fresh odour
