Get your home Autumn ready – Hints & Tips

1 – Deep clean your house

Deep cleans aren’t just for Spring – Autumn is another great time to do this!

Giving your house a good once over, wiping away any cobwebs, wiping down the skirting boards and cleaning and re-organising the cupboards will get you feeling more prepared for the colder months.

2 – How about a fresh lick of paint?

Now your more likely to spend more time inside, why not give the house a spruce up? A new lick of paint on the walls can give your home a fresh lease of life and have it ready for the entertaining season.

3 – Clean out your oven

With Christmas and the festive season approaching – you’ll want to make sure your oven is spick and span ready for all the cooking and entertaining you’ll be doing.

4 – Mow the lawn

Not the most obvious one but wait until your grass has reached a good length and give it one last cut for the winter.

5 – Test your devices

As the darker nights draw in – we start to use our heating and lights more. It’s a good idea to make sure all your devices and lights are working, and that batteries are fitted in smoke detectors!

6 – Change up the Scent

Oranges, juniper berries, cinnamon, vanilla and rosehip make great autumn smells. Use candles, potpourri or diffusers to make your home smell amazing and cosy.

7 – Get some new cushions and throws

Adding some new cushions or throws to your sofas can really transform the room ready for the new season. Having cosy throws will also be perfect for snuggling up on colder evenings.

You can also tie it all in with your festive colour scheme!

8 – Check your drains!

With autumn guaranteed to be wet and windy a lot of the time it’s worth you should making sure that rainwater downspouts are clear of obstructions and direct water away from foundations, walkways, and driveways.

9 – Sort out your Movie/box set selection

With most people spending a lot longer inside in the evenings,  it’s worth sorting out your favourite movies, Netflix series or box sets ready for a few movie marathons! What better to do on a cold and raining evening.

Get under your cosy throw, grab a hot chocolate and a few snacks and your ready for Autumn!
