Keeping Your Carpet Clean

A sparkling, clean carpet makes a big difference to the overall appearance of a house.

You can polish the furniture and decorate with flowers all you like but a dull and dirty carpet will instantly bring down the appearance of any room.

That’s why we want to give you a few hints on how to keep your carpet looking clean and like new:

  1. Keep Dirt Outside

Obviously, the best way to have a clean carpet is to keep it from getting dirty in the first place. Make sure you have a door mat at every entrance point and be strict with the kids about using it. Have a boot scraper too if you’re the type of people who take walks out in the countryside.

  2. Vacuum Regularly

Letting dirt build up in carpets is more likely to ruin its appearance than a big stain. Keep up with your vacuuming schedule and it will save you a lot of hassle deep cleaning later. The more often you vacuum the better as dirt is easily trodden in to the fibres and then becomes difficult to remove. If you struggle to keep on top of it, consider investing in a robot vacuum.

  3. Catch Spills Straight Away

If a spill occurs take action fast! Pick up any solid matter first, then blot the stain with a paper towel (never scrub the area). Use baking soda or diluted vinegar as an alternative to carpet cleaner if you haven’t got any in the cupboard.

  4. Protect New Carpets

Have your new carpets stain protected to guard them from spills, protect them from wear and to make it easier to vacuum. Want to know how it works?  Invest in your carpets early to ensure they have a long life.

  5. Revive Old Carpets

Hire a professional carpet cleaner company to revive old carpets when you aren’t ready or can’t afford to replace them. You’ll be surprised what a big difference it makes to the appearance of your house. Carpet cleaning is also great for hygiene reasons as it harbours all sorts of bacteria and allergens.
