Simple tips to make Christmas time less stressful…
Christmas can be the most magical time of the year but does the overall thought of it make you feel stressed? Make it slightly easier this Christmas by following these simple tips and advice and find time to relax and enjoy!
Enjoy the moment
Christmas is always a busy time of year but don’t let it overwhelm you. Take a deep breath and savour the moment with your family. This time of year can create the best memories, so spend as much time as you can enjoying your family’s presence, the excited faces and all of the glorious food. People will remember all this – not how tidy your house was or how many presents there were under the tree!
Change it up
Bored of the same old traditions? Over time these traditions may not work anymore so don’t be afraid to switch them up. If it’s no longer something that you or the kids enjoy drop it and go for something more appealing to keep you all happy.
Schedule a break
We all know things can get busy, the shopping, tidying and organising can get a bit over whelming, so make sure you schedule some you time. Even if you pop out for a walk to drop the Christmas cards in the post-box or go for a night-time stroll to admire all the festive lights, just make sure you get some you time.
Stock up on wrapping paper
Buy multiples of tape, extra gift tags and more wrapping paper than you think you’ll need. Nothing is more frustrating than running out of supplies with the job half done, and you can always save the leftovers for next year.
Ask for help
Don’t take on all the roles yourself. Guest usually refer to help rather than sit around watching you do everything (especially family members). Ask the chattiest member of the family to greet guests at the door, while the kids can take the coats and take the drinks orders.
Save time if you can
Don’t expect to do everything yourself. If you can pre-order food from your local supermarket and it’ll save you time and stress and require little or no preparation.
You don’t have to say yes to everything
There’s always a lot going on over the festive period and the chances are you’ll find yourself or your family being invited to lots of things. Don’t overdo it and say yes to everything that you don’t need to. You can always arrange to catch up with people in the new year.
